"Yami ni koso, hi wa moyuru"

In the age before lamps...
when men still feared the dark...
there were islands, far to the south
scales of the sleeping dragon, draped in mist and memory.Upon them danced the Hinode
shadows beneath the flame. They were not conquerors.
Nor servants of gold.
They were those who listened
to earth... to sky... to the hush between heartbeats.
The clan’s history is rich and intricately woven to a series of islands in the Southern reaches of Hingashi commonly known as the dragon’s scales due to the line they drew across the ocean. Once a thriving island-vassal state, now defunct and fully integrated into the larger island nation, this locale boasts a rich cultural tapestry. Its traditions and beliefs are deeply shaped by the close ties to both Hingan and Doman influences, owing to its geographical closeness to Doma. And at times, vassals under their territories during the warring period of the island nations. The clan’s purpose is to commune with the spirits of the sea, land, and heavens in order to maintain harmony between the realms of heaven and earth. Rarely becoming involved with matters other clans focused upon, and instead forging strong alliances with the merchant and warrior clans of the islands to establish themselves as respected religious figures in charge of the temples and rites for both the living and the deceased.

But when the black ships came, and the land of Doma burned,
And Hingashi turned a blind eye to her southern wards,
The Hinode cried to the Twin Shīsā for aid.And aid came... Too late.Ibaramaru fell beneath aether-wrought shadows,
Defending a shrine swallowed by the sea.Hakukon, broken by loss, turned inwardCorrupted by grief, her fury burned through the veils of both worlds. The Hinode survivors went into exile,
Scattering like embers on the wind.
War loomed in the horizon with arrival of the Black Ships and the Garlean occupation, forcing the clan into changing their stance as religious leaders and protectors. Given their connections to Doma and their geographical closeness, it became plausible for the Garleans to also turn their attention towards the isles. And thus, the Hinode clan involved themselves with the Doman Liberation Front. As Doman mountains slowly were rife with skirmishes, if not outright battles the land and the spirits within it began to stir. Their shrines destroyed by artillery fire or the march of warmachina, the conflicts and the feelings of hatred and frustration seeped into the earth beneath them. By engaging both the Garlean forces and the Spirits in combat, the small clan provided significant relief to those suffering from the relentless strife.Clan Hinode, however, was always a small clan compared to most. Over the years of conflict their numbers began to dwindle, even as more joined them in their tasks. the two decade old battle of attrition took a heavy toll upon them. Reaching out to the spirits, the clan reached out to a pair of Shisa spirits revered by the inhabitants of the dragon scales and small fishing towns in Doma. Hakukon and Ibaramaru.
A bargain was struck between them, but their aid came too late. What became of the clan is shrouded in mystery; very few seemed to survive to the end of the war under the leadership of an adoptive son. One Hinode Ryuga seeking to slowly rebuild the clan to its former glory.

Any kind of character is welcome to participate and join other than the examples mentioned below. Best way to see whether a character would fit in would be through RPing with any of the clan members and participating in FC activities as an ally before joining the clan itself. The spirit touched, ex-Shinobi, retired warriors, or even commoners with a deep respect for nature and balance. Individuals who have encountered Yokai or spiritual entities, those who have survived hauntings, and emerging seers gifted with the ability to glimpse beyond the veil into the spiritual realm. Characters seeking some form of redemption for their past actions, or perhaps former Shinobi tired of the political intrigue that is common in their trade and instead seek to protect instead of exploit. There is no requirement to join the FC to participate, and anyone from other datacenters/servers are welcome to join as well if they so desire.
Characters: Diverse characters rooted into FFXIV lore and grounded in nature. No WoL, Ashkin, or Sineaters. When it comes to Voidsent, Auspice, or Yokai it's a case by case basis. We're totally open to them as long as they fit into the FFXIV lore. Just remember, the players using these characters should be okay with using the dice system for their abilities. Also, keep in mind that if these characters are found out, there might be some serious consequences, especially from those who aren't exactly friendly toward them. We totally get that everyone loves the idea of powerful characters, but we want to keep things balanced and make sense for roleplay and storytelling.Roleplayers: People over 21+ and conduct themselves in that manner. Folks who are comfortable committing to long term plot lines or interactions with those within the clan and their endeavors. Writers who are on the lookout for RP and are thinking about setting up events or storylines as their characters grow and change over time.
